PRALHAD GURUNG

The Himalayan origin, united States based multidisciplinary artist [Fine Arts]. The expertise major genres are Art, Design, Film, Literature and Music. 


He was born in a small village called Gopini, Chirang, Bhutan. At the age of 7 years old, he fled with his family to Bhutanese refugee camp Goldhap, Jhapa Nepal and spent his childhood sharing and instructing fine arts to the young minds by establishing an institution called IFACA - BHUTAN  [Institute of Fine Art and Commercial Art] and later the group called IF [Ifacan Fine Arts] in the year 1994 - present. 


His 30 years of artistic life had won the national and international awards, hundred art exhibitions, a dozen exploratory writing and conceived dozen award winning films. 


In Spring 2008, he completed his BA study from Mechi Multiple Campus Bhadrapur, Jhapa, Nepal and in Summer 2008, he resettled in San Francisco Bay Area, United States and started teaching as an art teacher at Oakland International High School. In Spring 2015 he had a degree from Cornish College of the Arts Seattle, Washington, USA.

 

His creations are based on his childhood influences on the nature about the Himalayas Folklores and refugee raised life connected his work towards the refugees, homeless, orphans, poor and needy peoples. He aims to grow as an artist to reflect those hard lives through the medium of fine arts to restarts a new.
